Innovision and GIZ Complete Eight-Day Training Programme to Strengthen RSC’s Capacity on Labour Standards and Workplace Practices

The Ready-Made Garment Sustainability Council (RSC) has completed an eight-day specialized training programme designed to strengthen the capacity of its OSH Complaints Mechanism team in labour standards, industrial relations, and grievance investigation. Supported by GIZ under the Skills for Self-Monitoring and Compliance with Clean and Fair Production in the Textile Industry (SCAIP) project and facilitated by Innovision Consulting Private Limited, the programme focused on enhancing practical skills in fair and transparent investigations, workplace conflict resolution, and gender-responsive complaint handling.

The training aimed to strengthen the practical knowledge and skills of RSC’s team in applying labour standards, understanding industrial relations, resolving workplace conflicts, and conducting fair, transparent, and effective grievance investigations. It also emphasised gender-responsive approaches to complaint handling, supporting the development of safer, more inclusive, and respectful workplaces across Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector.

‍

As Bangladesh’s RMG industry continues to play a vital role in employment, economic growth, and global supply chains, strengthening labour rights, workplace safety, and responsible business practices remains essential to the sector’s long-term sustainability. Effective complaint-handling systems and constructive industrial relations are important to ensure that workplace concerns are addressed fairly and that workers’ voices are heard.

Throughout the programme, participants engaged in interactive discussions, practical exercises, experience-sharing sessions, and collaborative learning activities. These approaches helped connect legal and technical knowledge with the real-world challenges of workplace relations and grievance management. Particular attention was given to fair and transparent investigations, gender-sensitive complaint handling, and approaches that uphold the dignity and rights of workers.

The programme also provided an opportunity for Innovision’s experts and the RSC team to exchange perspectives, strengthen professional relationships, and build a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities involved in promoting responsible workplace practices.

The training was facilitated by a team of professionals from Innovision and its expert network, including Nilufer Ahmed Karim, Asim Mondal, Md. Sabbir Hossain, and Ashrafun Nahar. Their combined experience and perspectives contributed to the programme’s focus on practical learning and collaborative problem-solving.
