Position Summary

The Senior Associate – Economic Growth will be a core member of Innovision’s Economic Growth portfolio, supporting the design, execution, and management of research, advisory, and implementation engagements across livelihood development, market systems development, local economic development, and skills-focused initiatives.

The role spans multi-country and multi-sectoral assignments focused on empowering smallholder farmers, entrepreneurs, and market actors through evidence-based policies, strategies, and systemic interventions. The Senior Associate will work closely with portfolio leadership, multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and clients to translate complex analysis into practical solutions.

The position requires strong analytical and research skills, experience in managing field-based studies, and the ability to balance technical delivery, portfolio planning, and business development responsibilities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

  • Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

Research, Advisory & Project Execution

  • Design and undertake explanatory research, formative research, case studies, market assessments, household surveys, and systems analysis.
  • Conduct background research and evidence reviews to identify key themes, risks, and opportunities that inform research design and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and support field research activities, including key informant interviews, stakeholder consultations, and beneficiary engagement across diverse socio-economic contexts.
  • Train, supervise, and manage teams of field managers and enumerators to ensure ethical data collection and quality assurance.
  • Gather, clean, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to generate reliable, high-quality evidence.
  • Oversee data entry processes and ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across assessments and studies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project deliverables, including analytical notes, draft and final reports, and client-facing presentations.

Portfolio Planning & Strategic Support

  • Support the development and execution of annual portfolio plans, including service offerings, market positioning, and growth priorities.
  • Contribute to financial planning, cost monitoring, and budget control in line with approved portfolio plans.
  • Conduct competitor analysis, market scanning, and sector research to inform strategic and operational decisions.

Consultant & Team Management

  • Identify, onboard, and manage consultants for portfolio assignments.
  • Ensure quality assurance of consultant outputs in line with Innovision’s technical standards and client expectations.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior team members as required.

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Proactively identify and pursue partnership opportunities with local and international organizations, in coordination with management.
  • Support proposal development and expressions of interest, including methodology design, work planning, budgeting, and coordination with internal teams and external experts.
  • Maintain regular communication with existing clients and follow up on ongoing, upcoming, and potential engagements.
  • Participate in client meetings, pitch discussions, and represent Innovision in business development forums as required.

Coordination, Representation & Collaboration

  • Coordinate with other portfolio teams to support cross-portfolio initiatives and organizational development priorities.
  • Represent Innovision Consulting at national and international forums, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.

Knowledge Management & Learning

  • Develop knowledge products, case studies, and learning outputs based on completed and ongoing assignments.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen Innovision’s knowledge management systems and promote organizational expertise internally and externally.
  • Contribute to internal learning sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Financial Management

  • Prepare, manage, and review financial documentation in line with organizational and donor requirements.
  • Support teammates in financial management, budgeting, and expenditure tracking for portfolio assignments.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of full-time professional experience in livelihood development, market systems development, local economic development, skills development, or related thematic areas.
  • Prior experience in consulting or advisory services is an advantage.
  • Experience working in the skills sector will be considered an added benefit.
  • Proven experience in team management, stakeholder coordination, and beneficiary engagement.
  • Familiarity with digital tools for monitoring, evaluation, and data management.
  • Strong analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive local development, innovation, and culturally sensitive work environments.
